SUSPENDED CEILINGS

SUSPENDED CEILINGS FOR OFFICES & WORKSPACES

Westwood Projects offer a suspended ceiling design, supply, and installation service.

A well designed and properly installed suspended ceiling can help with lowering heating or cooling costs, improve acoustics, and with a reflective surface help create bright workspaces. Suspended ceilings also provide space above for other services such as wiring and ductwork. There are two popular types of suspended ceiling exposed grid and concealed grid, and a huge choice of ceiling tiles.

Westwood can also design, supply and install acoustic baffles and panels if a suspended ceiling is not an appropriate choice for your building. If you are looking for a clean monolithic look than why not consider a traditional plasterboard ceiling.

EXPOSED GRID

The exposed grid system also known as a ‘lay-in grid’, or ‘drop ceiling’ is the most common type of suspended ceiling that is installed.

Mild steel components are clicked together to form modules for the ceilings tiles to lay in to. This ceiling grid is supported from the structure above using galvanised wire.

This type of ceiling can be used to improve acoustic performance by providing an absorbent surface that will reduce reverberation and reduce echo.

They can also provide a cost effective solution for fire protection to the area above by up to 60 minutes. Exposed grid ceilings are quick to install and provide a cost effective solution.

CONCEALED GRID

A concealed grid suspended ceiling gives a cleaner look than the traditional exposed grid ceiling. It is more aesthetically pleasing because the tiles are clipped into a galvanised steel grid that is concealed above the ceiling surface.

They also perform well from a fire protection perspective and there is a wide range of face and edge details on the tiles.

However, a concealed grid suspended ceiling is more expensive than the conventional exposed grid solution.

ACOUSTIC BAFFLES/PANELS

Acoustic baffles and hanging panels are a cost-effective way of controlling sound, while providing excellent scope for a variety of design solutions. Hanging acoustic panels suspended from the ceiling can absorb sound on all sides making them extremely effective acoustically.

This system is ideal in rooms and buildings where the use of a traditional suspended ceiling is technically not appropriate or aesthetically unappealing.
