WHAT IS A MEZZANINE FLOOR?

A Mezzanine Floor is a fully self-supported structure that stands independently from the main building. The mezzanine is constructed of hot-rolled steel beams, supported from a grid of columns or posts.

Cold-rolled purlins are installed between the main beams at centres to suit the required loading for the floor, with a layer of 38mm particle board fixed over the structure to provide a flat uniform surface.

HOW MUCH DOES A MEZZANINE FLOOR COST TO INSTALL?

A typical storage mezzanine floor, supplied and installed by our experienced installers would be in the region of £105-125 per m2.

The size, height, what the floor will be used for, and any additional requirements like staircases and fire protection will need to be considered.

Westwood Projects provide a free consultation and design service to provide an accurate cost, and we will provide a plan-check & gain preliminary approval through our partnership with the Local Authority Building Control, prior to you making any financial commitment.

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO INSTALL A MEZZANINE FLOOR?

Our experienced mezzanine floor installers can complete around 40m2 of mezzanine floor per day, including handrail, staircases, and pallet gates.

If required by building regulations, our fire-protection engineers would complete approx. 80m2 per day of fire protection works, including Suspended Ceilings, Casings & Facias.

Prior to install we will provide a clear program of works to ensure minimum impact to the day-to-day running of your business.

OUR PROCESS

Westwood Projects offer a full installation service which includes

1. Free No-obligation Design Meeting

One of our designers will visit you at your premises to carry out a preliminary site survey and discuss your requirements.

2. Design Report & Quote

We will prepare initial drawings and preliminary costs for your approval. We will make any amendments or revisions and continue this process until you are completely satisfied with the final design.

We will then forward to our partners at the Local Authority Building Control (LABC) for preliminary approval prior to providing any commitment.

3. You Want To Go Ahead & Consider

If you decide to proceed, we will ask you to confirm your order with us. We will then arrange for an engineer to carry out a more detailed construction survey.

Our design team will then create CAD drawings and calculations that will be required as part of the Building Control application. We will visit you again to ensure you are completely happy with the final layout and sign off the drawings for production.

4. Production & Installation

Your new mezzanine will be fully manufactured off-site. This reduces site installation times, minimising disruption. Once production is complete, your new mezzanine floor will be delivered to site, and our mezzanine installers willy complete final installation. We conduct regular safety and quality inspections during the installation. We will arrange all Building Control visits at the correct times to comply with regulations.

5. Fit-out and Fire Safety Works

If you asked us to carry out fit-out and fire safety works, these will be programmed to be completed by our specialist teams. Again, all works will be installed and inspected to comply with regulations.

6. Completion & Hand Over

Your mezzanine floor project is now complete, we will carry out a final inspection, request a final visit for Building Control to issue a Completion Certificate. We will provide you with a complete ‘Operation and Maintenance manual’ detailing everything you need to know about the installation, including certificates and details of products used.

The mezzanine floor is now ready for you to occupy and make use of your increased occupational capacity.
